Lara Trump will step down as co-chair of the Republican National Committee as she considers several possible options for her father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump's return to the White House.

“It's something I would seriously consider,” she told The Associated Press in an interview. “If I'm completely transparent, I don't know what that would look like. And I definitely want to get all the information that is real to me. But yes, I would 100% consider it.”

The idea of putting a member of the Trump family in the Senate has been applauded in some Republican circles. Among those pushing to replace Rubio is Maye Musk, mother of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
“The Senate is an old men's club. We desperately need a smart, young, articulate woman who will reveal their secrets,” she posted on X. Lara Trump is 42 years old.
Elon Musk, who was with Lara Trump on election night at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, responded to his mom's post: “Lara Trump is really great.”
Under the leadership of chairmen Michael Whatley and Lara Trump, the RNC invested heavily in recruiting nearly 230,000 volunteers and an army of lawyers for its “election integrity” effort, four years after Donald Trump cited missteps in his campaign against Democrat Joe Biden. Lost his re-election bid. Or disproven theories about voter fraud. Outside groups such as Turning Point Action and Musk's America PAC took greater responsibility for advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts.
While Whatley will remain chair of the RNC, Lara Trump said she feels she has accomplished her goals in the co-chair role.
“With that big win, I feel like my time is up,” he said. “What I intended to do has been done.”
Lara Trump praised Musk's new effort, the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, a non-governmental task force headed by Musk and fellow entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. They have been used to fire federal employees, cut programs, and cut federal regulations as part of Trump's “Save America” agenda for a second term.
“I really don't think we've seen this kind of movement in our federal government in many ways since the founding of our country,” he said. “And I think if they are successful in what they plan to do, I think it will be transformative for America on a very massive scale.”
She said she expected a different presidency this time, starting with the structure of the administration: While Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner served as White House advisers in his previous administration, Lara Trump Said that she does not see any family member taking any position in the White House this time with her father-in-law.
“He really wants to go out there and do a good job for four years, and that's what he wants to serve,” he said. “Four years, and he's out.”
Lara Trump also says she hopes the Republican Party will be more unified than ever. When she became co-chair in May, the Trump campaign and the RNC merged, staffers were fired and positions were reorganized. He said the result could be troublesome for GOP lawmakers who don't agree with Trump's agenda.
“The whole party has completely changed and completely changed,” he said. “I think people are feeling a little more courageous in putting their political views out there.”
