Man's Body Found Dumped Near River Bed in Athi River

Residents of Kitengela have been thrown into panic after the body of an unidentified man was discovered along the Kitengela/Athi River Interchange, Mombasa Road, on Monday, February 3.

The man, whose identity is yet to be established, was found by bodaboda operators near the river’s culvert.

At the time of discovery, the deceased was shirtless, and his legs appeared to have been tied with a piece of cloth.

Witnesses suggest that the body was recently dumped by the riverbed, as locals believe it would have been swept away if it had been there for an extended period.

Another witness account revealed that the body had marks on the neck, suggesting the victim died from strangulation.

Human rights activist and social justice advocate Hussein Khalid confirmed the discovery of the body, as officers from the National Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrived at the scene soon after.

“The body is of a male, roughly around 30 years of age. It has a cut on the leg, and it appears as though the legs were tied together,” Khalid revealed in a statement.

The body has since been transferred to the morgue, as investigations to establish the man’s identity commence.

Incidentally, the latest discovery of a mysterious body comes at a time when two families are still grappling with uncertainty over the welfare of their kin, who are now commonly referred to as part of the ‘Mlolongo Four’.

On Thursday, January 31, two missing Mlolongo men were found in Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly City Mortuary. The two were Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau

Their discovery was made hours after Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI boss Mohammed Amin arrived in court to explain the whereabouts of all four missing persons, including the yet-to-be-found duo of Karani Mwema, and Stephen Mbisi Kavingo.

Kanja and Amin both denied having taken the four into custody and claimed the police were not involved in their disappearance.
