NTSA Launches Crackdown Against Matatu & Truck Drivers Starting in Mombasa

The County Government of Nairobi has announced new bus routes for Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) accessing the Central Business District (CBD).

In a gazette notice dated December 20, the capital’s Mobility and Works County Executive Member also announced the revocation of prior routes gazetted in 2017.

“Pursuant to section 4 (1) of the Nairobi City County Transport Act, 2020, it is notified for the general information of the public that the County Executive Member for Mobility and Works degazettes Gazette Notice No. 4479 of 2017 and gazettes the revised Core Bus Route Network for Public Transport Vehicles operating to, from and within the Nairobi City County,” the notice read.

According to Ibrahim Nyangoya Auma, the CECM, Mobility and Works, the changes would take effect immediately.

Among the new routes gazetted are from Kikuyu Town to Eastleigh Section 3 which will run through Kikuyu Road–Waithaka, Naivasha Road – Kawangware, Ngong Road, Junction Mall, Adams Arcade, Prestige Mall, KMTC, Community, Serena, Kenyatta Avenue, GPO, ICEA, Ambassadeur –Ronald Ngala St. –Kariokor – Gen Waruingi St., and Ist Avenue–19th St.

The return journey to CBD will run through Race Course –St. Peters Clavers Church, Uyoma St., Tusker, Kencom.

Two Dandora to Kibera/Olympic routes have also been re-gazetted with returning journeys expected to end at GPO, Ambassadeur, Ronald Ngala St., OTC and Orbital.

Routes running through Eastleigh Main to Yaya Centre, Githurai to Kangemi, JKIA to Westlands loop,  Kahawa West to Kangemi, Kariobangi to Kibera/Olympic, Mwiki/Kasarani to Ngumo have also been regazetted with new stages.

Some of the most significant routes which have been gazetted also include; Kiambu to Westlands and Kitengela and Athi River to Westlands. Kitengela to Ruiru and Thika routes have also been announced.

Umoja to Kibera via Industrial Area route as well as two Utawala to Kangemi routes have also been announced.

A Kileleshwa to Komarock Estate route has also been announced alongside a Riruta Satellite to Kahawa West matatu route.

Other routes among the 89 gazetted are; Komarock to Highridge, Dandora to Ngumo and to South C, Kariobangi to Madaraka, Kariobangi to Upperhill, Huruma to South B and Dagoretti to  Bomas.
