Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang on Monday, December 2, called on Senator Samson Cherargei to end political wars and focus on solutions for Nandi residents collaboratively.
In a phone interview, Governor Sang expressed his frustration with Senator Cherargei and asked him to stop the relentless criticisms and political squabbles, and instead work with him, especially to solve the health crisis in the county.
“Instead of constant criticism of my administration, I urge Senator Cherargei to channel his energy into solutions. Our residents deserve better, and it is time for us to join hands to address the challenges they face, especially in the health sector,” Governor Sang stated.
This development comes at a time when the ongoing debates about the state of the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital have led to constant finger-pointing from the Senator.

Concerning the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital, Sang stated that he was aware of the wrangles going on over staff shortages, inadequate medical supplies, and infrastructural concerns.
However, he assured that his administration had already taken decisive actions to tackle the issue, including plans to modernize the facility, improve sanitation, and equip it with essential drugs and medical equipment.
“It is easy to criticise, but real leadership requires taking action. My administration has prioritized healthcare, and we are making progress despite the challenges. I call on Senator Cherargei to support these efforts and work with us for the benefit of our people,” he stressed.
“Our people are watching, and they expect us to deliver, not engage in endless political wars. Leadership is about solutions, and I welcome the Senator and all stakeholders to collaborate with us in building a better Nandi.”
The situation at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital has drawn scrutiny and criticism from various quarters including from the Senator.
In several instances, Cherargei has accused the county government of failing to deliver on healthcare, citing issues such as poor hygiene, lack of essential supplies, and overcrowding.
In his defence, the Governor stated that although he had kicked off efforts to revitalise the healthcare system, it was impossible to make such changes overnight.
To achieve this ultimate goal, he added that sustained effort as well as teamwork from all the leaders was required.
