Students from needy and vulnerable backgrounds from the Narok West constituency, who did not benefit from the bursary distributed by the County Government have been encouraged to apply to benefit from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) kit.
While speaking in a local radio station morning show, the area Member of Parliament, Gabriel Tongoyo, said each of the three wards will get Sh9 million in the form of a bursary where every needy child will get up to Sh10,000.
He emphasized the importance of education as a transformative tool for individuals and the community at large, adding that education is the foundation of progress.
By supporting our students, he reiterated, we’re not just helping individuals but investing in the future of Narok West and all students in general.
“This is one way of eliminating poverty in our constituency,” he said, adding that those eligible for the bursary are students from secondary schools and tertiary levels.
The bursary aims to alleviate the financial challenges faced by many families, ensuring that students can focus on their education without the burden of unpaid fees.
The MP also encouraged parents and guardians to take an active role in ensuring their children apply for the bursaries, noting that no deserving student should miss out due to financial constraints.
Parents and students alike have expressed gratitude, sharing how previous bursary beneficiaries have excelled academically and are now contributing positively to society.
One of the past beneficiaries of the bursary, Mary Kipesi, said she was on the verge of dropping out of school when she received the money.
The Maasai Mara University communication student urged all students from needy backgrounds not to remain at home because of lack of school fees, challenging them to apply for the money that she said is distributed in a fair manner.
Narok County government has distributed a bursary worth Sh450 million this financial year to benefit the needy children.
