Kilgoris Member of Parliament Julius Sunkuli has initiated transformative development projects funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund, aimed at enhancing schools and local communities in his constituency.
The NG-CDF kitty is making a powerful impact on Trans Mara’s educational landscape, with new classroom constructions dramatically improving infrastructure. Schools that once relied on iron sheets and mud are quickly being replaced with modern, permanent structures.
On the second day of his development tour in Keyian Ward, Trans Mara West, Sunkuli highlighted the NG-CDF’s vital role in enhancing the educational environment.
Among the projects commissioned were two newly constructed classrooms at Enchurai Primary School and a full renovation of Kiikat Primary School.
On the other hand, Sunkuli emphasized that the focus, through active public participation, is not only on new constructions but also on revamping older classrooms to ensure a comprehensive improvement.
“The progress made so far is just the beginning, we’re committed to completing ongoing projects and launching new ones to continue benefiting our communities,” said Sunkuli.
These projects, are part of the 2023/2024 financial year’s development agenda, are already having a significant positive impact by creating a more conducive learning environment for students.
John Tawuo, PTA Chairman at Enchurai Primary School, expressed deep gratitude for the new classrooms and the renovation of existing structures, recognizing the NGCDF’s role in transforming the school.
A local resident Rose Munka echoed his sentiments, sharing how conditions at the schools had been poor before the upgrades.
“Our children used to learn in classrooms made of mud and iron sheets. Now, we’re thrilled to have new classrooms, offering a permanent, more conducive learning environment,” said Munka.
Gidion Sakwa, the head teacher of Enchurai Primary School, also expressed his appreciation for the leadership shown by Sunkuli.

Meanwhile, parents and community members have called on other leaders to follow suit, emphasizing the importance of community-driven development initiatives that can truly uplift local areas.
