Nyandarua MCA Records Statement After Allegedly Being Abducted

Nyandarua Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Gathanji Ward, Kuria Thuo, has alleged that he was abducted on the night of Tuesday, January 28.

While recording a statement at the Gilgil Police Station, the MCA claimed that he was abducted at 9 p.m. while in Ol Kalau, and he lost consciousness until the morning of Wednesday, January 29.

According to the MCA, he woke up in a car at 5 am and found that he was being driven around by a military officer.

“I was abducted and I regained consciousness at around 5 am. My driver was a military policeman, a very strange person to me, he woke me up because the vehicle had no more fuel. He had taken me rounds for the whole night,” the MCA alleged.

He alleged that while they were still in the vehicle, another woman, whom he suspected to be a police officer, joined them.

According to the MCA, the abduction lasted approximately 10 hours, an experience he described as terrifying.

His colleague, Nyandarua nominated MCA Lucy Kageni, recounted that she received a message from Thuo about the incident at 5 a.m. when she turned on her phone. According to Kageni, Thuo had texted her, informing her that he had been abducted near Pembru.

“The first thing I did was call him, and he told me where they were and requested me to bring fuel. I bought the fuel and took it to them. I gave it to a tall man, over six feet tall, who told me he was with Thuo and that he knew him,” Kageni narrated.

The MCA then alighted from the vehicle in which he was allegedly abducted and hopped into Kageni’s vehicle, directing her to drive off.

However, the MCA did not disclose the reason behind his alleged abduction. When questioned, the alleged abductors did not provide any substantial responses, according to the MCAs.

On Sunday, January 26, the MCA had joined former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at a church service.

In a Facebook post, the MCA expressed his joy at having joined the former DP for the service. Additionally, he has been in the political limelight, showcasing his support for the former DP.

The allegations come at a time when the country is grappling with an increased number of abduction cases.

The government has been challenged to tighten security in the country and ensure that such cases do not continue. A report by a human rights organisation disclosed that over 80 people have been allegedly abducted since the onset of the June anti-government protests by Gen Z.
