Oracle and a group of investors that also includes Microsoft are in talks to take over TikTok's global operations. reports npr, In the deal the White House is reportedly negotiating, ByteDance will keep a minority stake in TikTok, while “the app's algorithms, data collection and software updates will be overseen by Oracle.”

According to one of NPR's unnamed sources, Oracle's server network already provides the bulk of TikTok's backbone, and under the deal, the company will “effectively oversee what's happening with TikTok.” and provide monitoring,” which said the goal of the agreement was to “reduce Chinese ownership.”

Microsoft's alleged involvement doesn't get any clearer than that it is “engaged in negotiations.” The company was also involved with Oracle and Walmart in a bid to acquire TikTok in 2020 Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates called “A poison[ed] Cup.” is reportedly not included this time after the Walmart app “denied the estimated price.”
