A Marsabit court has ordered for the detention in police custody for 14 days of a man suspected of murdering his wife over alleged adultery.
Halakhe Dida Duracha, 32, who was pursued and arrested by detectives after stabbing his 27-year-old wife and a mother of 4 to death was not required to plead to any charge when he was presented before Principal Magistrate Simon Arome.
The Prosecution made an application to have the suspect held at the Marsabit Police Station for 14 days which was granted by the court to enable the police to complete investigations into the matter.
The accused who was arrested on Tuesday was alleged to have committed the offence on the night of February 27, 2025 at Badassa village in Marsabit Central Sub-county.
Corporal Farez Wanjagi told the court that detectives were yet to address a number of key investigation components in the case.
He further told the court that important witnesses in the case were yet to record statements while a postmortem on the deceased to establish what caused her death was pending.
The investigating officer added that the results of DNA analysis on the murder weapon sought from the Government chemist have not been concluded.
The Magistrate acknowledged that the police had a lot of ground to cover in the case and granted the application to hold the suspect for the period requested.
The case will be mentioned on February 10, this year.
