Police Officers Open Fire on 5-Man Gang Attempting to Rob Them on Highway

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) on Sunday, December 1, arrested two notorious criminals who had been, for a while, a scourge to the public.

According to the DCI, the two had been for a long time operating along the busy Kisumu-Nairobi Highway where they had been waylaying members of the public before robbing them of valuable goods.

It took a string of a meticulously planned operation by undercover agents from the DCI for the criminals to be nabbed at their popular operation launching point.

”Three criminals who have been waylaying members of the public and robbing them of valuables along Kisumu – Nairobi road near one of the companies around, have been arrested by undercover officers drawn from Kasagam Police Station,” DCI revealed.

The detectives revealed that the three who were part of a larger five-man gang deployed the use of various crude weapons to target members of the public before stealing from them their valuables.

”Oblivious of a sting operation to end their reign of terror, the trio who were part of a five-man gang pounced on the officers using an array of crude weapons, too late to realize they had carried the wrong weapons in a battle of guns,” the statement added noting that the police opened fire on them.

The detectives revealed that the nabbed criminals were lucky to see another day after they obeyed surrender orders after the officers surrounded them. Two were taken to the police station while one is undergoing treatment.

However, 2 others who were not with their colleagues at the time of the night drama have been urged by the police to surrender to the police.

”Outsmarted, three of the five obeyed orders to surrender, dropping their weapons as the other two scooted off like terrified warthogs,” DCI stated.

”The latter, having been identified, are being hotly pursued amidst calls to surrender at the Kasagam station. The arrested, two citizens aged 22 have been placed in custody pending arraignment while the other a 27-year-old is in hospital undergoing treatment.”

Meanwhile, the sleuths revealed that the three will be taken to court following the conclusion of investigations into the criminal enterprise that has been wreaking havoc on unsuspecting members of the public.

The arrests follow a series of violent robbery incidents along the highway that has been a nuisance to members of the public, who in turn have been forced to devise other means to survive the gang including closing their businesses earlier to get home in time.
