Water supply services at Lopiding Sub-County Hospital in Lokichoggio have been fully restored following the repair of a borehole that serves the facility.
Besides the hospital, repairs by the technical team have reinstated water services for the animal water trough and community water points at Kapetadie, benefiting both residents and pastoralists. Lokichoggio Sub-County Administrator Obed Echip confirmed the restoration of services, adding that the technical team has been directed to undertake similar repairs in Longolekomwa and Keachamun to ensure a consistent water supply in these affected areas.
“I can confirm that the borehole is now operational. Both the hospital and the neighboring village are once again accessing water services,” said Echip.
The repair has significantly reduced pressure on the cross-border health facility, which serves not only the entire sub-county but also patients from neighboring South Sudan and Ethiopia.
The completion of repairs at Kapetadie is expected to provide relief to local residents and cross-border pastoralists, who previously had to travel long distances in search of water for their livestock.
Furthermore, the County Department of Water recently deployed a Sub-County Water Officer to Lokichoggio. This strategic move has improved response time, facilitated routine maintenance, and enhanced overall water service management in the area.
According to Echip, the intervention underscores the County’s commitment to strengthening essential services and ensuring an uninterrupted water supply for critical health facilities and pastoralist communities.
