Ruto Awards NTSA for Its eCitizen Rollout

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) on Thursday received a presidential award for digitization of its services on the eCitizen platform. 

The Authority received the Award under the All-Time Highest Transaction in the Corporate Category trouncing hundreds of parastatals.

The recognition came after the Authority increased service delivery and efficiency by providing key services to the public which resulted in increased revenue collection to the government.

Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and the Director General of NTSA George Njao received the award from President William Ruto who graced the event as the chief guest.

The award was feted to NTSA during the first-year commemoration of the eCitizen platform at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. The event saw the third-generation National Identity Card (ID) launched.

By making all its services conveniently available online, NTSA has enhanced the transport sector regulatory environment in Kenya.

The Authority has so far processed over 21,803,623 transactions since migrating to the eCitizen platform in early 2024.

Kenyans can now easily renew their Driving licenses for boda boda, public service vehicles (PSV), or private vehicles from the comfort of their phones.

Similarly, members of the public can easily obtain logbooks, and transact in the buying and selling of motor vehicles.

Additionally, motor vehicle owners can book and pay for motor vehicle inspections, among other key services.

NTSA is a trailblazer in digitizing over 30 services by making all its services conveniently available online it has enhanced tthe ransport sector regulatory environment.

The award comes as the Authority launched programs to enhance road safety including an automated program to alert speeding motorists via text.
