CS Justin Muturi Claims NIS Was Behind His Son's Abduction

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Saturday, February 2, pleaded with President William Ruto not to fire Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi.

In an impassioned speech, Khalwale urged the President not to heed calls by individuals politicising the abduction of Muturi’s son instead of taking it as a personal matter of a father worried about his son.

Khalwale addressed the President directly, imploring him to put himself in the shoes of Muturi whose son was among Kenyans abducted at the heart of Gen Z protests in July.

“I would like to tell you that there are people who want to incite you about Justin Muturi. His son was abducted. As a parent, if your child is abducted you would not be happy either. Now that Muturi is angry and wants to know who kidnapped his son, people are saying ‘Muturi must resign’ ‘Muturi must be sacked’,” he stated.

“How do you sack a father because he is concerned about the abduction of his son? I would like to urge President Ruto to not listen to naysayers and fire Justin Muturi as CS. The most important thing you can do as the President is listen to the people who want you to take responsibility and ensure the trend of abductions comes to an end.”

He further implored President Ruto not to take it personally when Kenyans blame the abductions on the government but to take it as a challenge to stop the vice.

The Senator ended his speech by declaring his support for Muturi and his cause, stating that he was speaking for millions of Kenyans who want abductions to end.

He also took a slight at the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah who had been among the top officials calling for the sacking of Muturi.

“I see young people like Kimani Ichung’wah and others are the ones telling the President to ‘put petrol in the fire’ and kick Muturi out. No, Muturi is speaking on behalf of millions of Kenyans who want abductions to end,” he concluded.

While speaking in Embu on Saturday, Ichung’wah said, ”Those who pontificate and attempt to lecture the President, the Deputy President, and other leaders on how well they know and polished, please give us a break.”

Aden Duale, the Environment CS also had words to say to Muturi on Saturday, launching a scathing attack during his address while touring the North Eastern Region.

”I want to ask our colleagues and we must respect. If you are privileged and you are unhappy and you are a Cabinet Secretary, the best thing for you is to resign,” Duale stated.

On Friday, Muturi once again lashed out at the President stating, “I’m calling upon the government. The buck must stop somewhere. To the President of Kenya, I’m calling upon you now to put an end to these abductions, as you promised.”
