Elkart, Industries. (CBS) – Three people have been killed- including a suspect- and two police officers were injured in a shooting at a grocery store in Northern Indiana.

The officials then exchanged bullets with the suspect shooting outside the store. The Elkart Police Department said two officers were injured and the suspect was shot.
Police said one officer was treated till Monday night from the hospital, while the other was “a fair but stable hospitalized.”
There was no immediate word on motivating shelling, but investigators said there was no threat to the public.
“In this terrible situation, the words cannot express the pain felt in our community when such a tragic event occurs,” Elkart Police chief Dan Milneys said in a statement. “This pain is especially felt by the families of the victims, the officers responding, the families of the injured officers and all the witnesses of this tragic incident.”
