Around 4:15 pm, the deputy of a Jasper County Sheriff organized a traffic stop near Pulski County Line on SR 14. According to the ISP, the officer tried to arrest the suspect, but the officials say the suspect protested and a dispute occurred.
The ISP said in a written release, “There was a dispute between the suspect and the officer, resulting in the officer fired his weapon and badly injured the suspect.”
Police said during the traffic stop, the suspect was in possession of a gun.
Jasper County Coroner identified a person killed as Matthew Hutal, a 42 -year -old Matthew Hutal of Hobart, Indiana.
Sheriff Patrick Williamson said, “Our condolences go out for the family of the deceased because any loss of life is painful for those who were close to Shri Hutal.”
An investigation is on. According to the ISP, the officer involved in shooting is placed on administrative leave per standard protocol.
Officials did not say whether traffic stops could be motivated.
In 2023, Hutal was sentenced to six months' custody after being convicted for entering the banned building. He traveled with his uncle to attend the Trump-Trum rally with Washington on 6 January 2021, and both of them entered the capital. Hutal was inside for 16 minutes and recorded it on the video.
