Two Men & Woman Vanish Along Mai Mahiu Road

Pressure continues to mount as three people who were reportedly abducted along the Mai Mahiu-Narok highway on Thursday, December 5, remain missing.

The three; two men and one woman, were driving to Bomet before they were intercepted by two Subarus. According to eyewitnesses, the occupants of one of the Subarus fired at their vehicle in a bid to immobilise it.

They were then bundled into the car at Mutarakwa area by the unknown men before speeding away. 

It is alleged the trio was travelling from Nairobi to Bomet when the incident happened. This is according to a report recorded at the Chebunyo Police Station.

So far, the families of the victims have reported no contact with their missing relatives.

While speaking to the press, a relative of one of the victims, expressed his frustration with the situation. He revealed that the family had dispatched a team to visit several morgues in search of their loved one, but their efforts had so far been fruitless.

“We have also reported the matter to Lari Police Station,” said Koech, detailing the emotional toll the family has endured during their search for their missing relative.

Following the abduction, the victims’ abandoned vehicle was towed to Lari Police Station, where officers have since launched investigations into the incident.

Confirming the case, Chepalungu Sub-County Police Commander Panton Analo stated that his office was working closely with the victims’ families to aid in the search for their missing loved ones.

There has been a growing concern over abductions and arbitrary arrests believed to be conducted by people believed to be police officers.

In August, two brothers Jamil, Aslam Longton and activist Bob Njagi were abducted and went missing for over 32 days.

Earlier on October 27, Activist Boniface Mwangi was abducted by unknown people at his home in Ukambani. These abductions continue a series of worrying trends that human rights groups have blamed the government for.
