Ugandan Househelp Captured on CCTV Helping Burglar Beat Up Woman in Eastleigh Arrested

Following months of manhunt and investigations to bring to book a Ugandan national who assisted an armed robber to gain entry into an apartment and steal valuables, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) finally arrested the suspect.

In November last year, 23-year-old Nabalayo Everline Loice who was reported to have aided a criminal mastermind in a theft syndicate that led to the loss of valuables and beat up another househelp in Eastleigh was cornered in Nairobi’s Kariokor area.

According to the detectives, the suspect was arrested while attempting to flee to Uganda via a bus.

Upon arrest, the suspect was taken into police custody pending arraignment in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

On the fateful day of the events leading to her arrest, the houshelp is reported to have helped the robber who was armed with crude weapons to gain entry into the apartment.

At that time, she was in the company of another Somali national househelp who was injured by the robber in the daring incident. CCTV footage captured the burglar beating up the Somali househelp, leaving her with serious injuries in the process.

”After days of manhunt, detectives have finally apprehended Nabalayo at Kariokor while she was attempting to escape on a bus bound for Uganda,” a DCI statement read in part.

“She is currently in police custody undergoing processing, pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the manhunt for her accomplice, who remains at large, is still in full swing,” it added.

In November, Kenyans.co.ke reported that the burglar forced his entry into the house using a hammer, an incident that was captured on CCTV and later went viral online.

”Hakimo Muhidin (the Somali househelp) sustained serious injuries including a broken tooth and injuries to her hand, head, and legs. Additionally, she exhibited signs of having been whipped, with visible marks on her back,’’ DCI reported at the time.

Eastleigh estate has in recent months been a hotbed of criminal activities including murders and abductions. Some of the instances have been happening in broad daylight where the masterminds have been targeting victims walking on streets.

In October last year, a family in Eastleigh, Nairobi, was left seeking justice after three family members, a mother and her two daughters, were found murdered in different locations within Nairobi.

The trio, who disappeared on Monday, October 21, were all found dead in Bahati, Parklands, and Machakos respectively with similar injuries.

According to family members, the two girls left home on Monday in search of their mother who had yet to return home after a visit to the hospital.

CCTV footage obtained by Kenyans.co.ke depicted the two girls, aged 10 and 22, leaving home in their casual hijab dresses before momentarily stopping by the exit of their premises to have a conversation.
