It's time for the biggest tech show of the year. CES 2025 officially begins next week, with most of the biggest names in the industry gathering in Las Vegas to announce new products and showcase some of the most exciting technologies coming throughout the year.
CES is traditionally a show about TVs, laptops, and smart home technology. But it's fast becoming a big show for cars, wearables and health tech, and much more. This year, expect one acronym to appear a lot in every category: AI. The AI hype cycle is heading straight into 2025, and AI is sure to be coming to the next generation of TVs and cars, whether you like it or not.
The show officially opens on Tuesday, January 7, but you can expect announcements to begin on Sunday and Monday, the day before, with show floor openings and press conferences.
Here are the big beats we're expecting to see on the show.
TVS
I'm expecting two prevalent trends for TVs at CES 2025: screens will continue to get bigger, and AI features will be everywhere – to the point of being inevitable. Consumers have been gravitating towards larger TVs for the past several years (we're talking 75 inches and above), so get ready to see some huge OLED and Mini LED models from Samsung, LG, TCL, Hisense, and others. Go.
And you can bet that practically every TV maker will dial the AI-powered tricks up to 11 this year. They already do this with automatic picture and audio settings. But given how popular ChatGPIT, Microsoft CoPilot, and other AI assistants have become, it's only a matter of time (perhaps just a few days) before chatbots make their way to your next TV.
Expect the most encouraging news to come from Samsung and LG. But I'm very curious to see what Panasonic has in store after its successful return to the US TV market last year.
smart home
CES 2025 will be the year of the smart home gadget. I'm expecting a range of new product announcements from companies like Aqara, Nanoleaf, Tappo, Reolink, Switchbot, Shelly, Lutron, Lifux, Flick and Sync, all appearing this year. I expect to see some real innovation – products that take smart home to the next level – especially now that the foundation is laid CaseA unified connectivity standard that they can take advantage of.
An area where I expect to see a lot of new products with exciting features smart lockswith new aliro standard When it launches next year, this space is poised for disruption. Easier, more intuitive ways to deal with locks and security is a universal need that will also help bring the benefits of home automation to more people.
We may be watching more screens than we actually want to
Another trend I hope we'll see on the show floor is new ways to control your smart home. After the success of Amazon's Echo HubI think we'll see a lot of new touchscreen interfaces that connect to your smart home devices and provide a way for anyone in the house to control lights, locks, shades, and more without their phone or voice. We may see more screens than we really want – Samsung has already teased its new screens “Screens Everywhere” Initiative And putting touchscreens on all its devices.
Another big topic will be robotics. Robot vacuum cleaners have been developing rapidly over the past few years, with many now capable of almost completely autonomous operation to clean and mop your floors. With EcoVax, Roborock, Dreamy, Narwhal and more at the show, I hope we'll see robot vacuums reach new heights.
Finally, home energy management in the smart home will be a pervasive topic at CES. I expect most product announcements to have some focus on energy use and/or conservation, but more importantly, I think we'll see that around new announcements. home energy management system – Platforms that will leverage AI to streamline the way your home uses energy, helping you conserve energy and save money. This is one of the most compelling reasons to add connectivity to your home, no matter how fun color-changing lights are.

auto
I think it's safe to say that this year's CES is looking to be the dullest event ever from a transportation perspective. Most of the world's major automakers are not paying attention, and most transportation-themed announcements have, to some extent, already been announced.
Afila, check out Sony and Honda's joint EV project: We're expecting some updates about preorders and customer experience, but this is the third show where we're seeing the upcoming vehicle.
This doesn't mean there won't still be some exciting news to come. Honda is preparing to share more information about it honda zero lineupTeasing two new vehicles that will definitely fill our quota for sleek, aerodynamic sedans with cool, cyberpunk-inspired lighting motifs.
BMW is the second major manufacturer with big CES plans this year. The German automaker is planning “New Classe” stage performance It's been testing for a few years now, including its new panoramic iDrive display and brand new operating system.
Certainly, with the threat of tariffs and fewer incentives on the EV market, it's not surprising to see fewer plug-in vehicles on display at the show. But several commercial vehicle manufacturers, including John Deere and Oshkosh, are planning to make big announcements, which should whet your appetite for battery-powered machines.
laptop
The Windows laptop sector has seen many exciting changes over the past year, with Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm all releasing excellent new mobile CPUs in 2024. We'll likely see a large number of Intel Aero Lake chips in laptops and a range of laptops. Of new amd offering at the show, but the real story of CES is likely to be all about graphics: The entire PC space feels like it's about to blow up with the anticipated launch of next generation nvidia gpu,
We'll keep hearing a lot of talk about “AI PCs”
This year's show will introduce an early series of gaming and content creation laptops built around Nvidia's new 50-series discrete GPUs – and I'm hoping that means a big step up in performance from the 40 series rather than iterative upgrades with higher costs. Is a jump. Or maybe you don't need a dedicated GPU in your laptop for above-average gaming performance at all, as leaks indicate AMD will have a new GPU. strix hello The processor with integrated graphics can rival Nvidia's RTX 4060 GPU. As much as I love top-of-the-line, cutting-edge GPUs (like the ones ending in numbers) 90), I also explore the idea of better performance in thinner and lighter machines.
Graphics may be the big story, but one more thing is for sure: We'll keep hearing lots of rumors about “AI PCs” and it's possible that it'll take over the dreary auto-generated tasks like email and problematic chatbotSure, live translations are nice, but the most interesting AI stuff coming to laptops at CES 2025 is likely to be anything Nvidia has its next generation DLSS ready,

Gambling
It's going to be a big year for PC gaming this time at CES. One of the biggest announcements of CES will be the next-generation GPUs from both Nvidia and AMD. We're expecting Nvidia to unveil its RTX 50-series graphics cards at a special GeForce keynote on January 7. Nvidia's next generation GPUs are leaked heavily And is expected to include a new “neural rendering” feature and “advanced DLSS technology”. Nvidia may be ready to unveil five new cards at CES, including the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070, and even an RTX 5090D for China.
AMD may also announce its new RDNA 4 GPUs at CES. Rumors suggest The Radeon RX 9070 XT will appear at the show, but is more likely to compete with Nvidia's current RTX 4080 than the upcoming RTX 5080. The RX 9070 XT may also launch with FSR 4, AMD's latest upscaling technology that is expected to be fully AI-enabled to compete more closely with Nvidia's DLSS.
It wouldn't be CES without new gaming laptops and the latest CPUs from Intel and AMD. Rumors suggest We may see Intel's Aero Lake-H series of laptop processors paired with RTX 50-series GPUs in a variety of laptops at CES. If that pairing is accurate, we're sure to see a mountain of gaming laptops with it.
If you've been waiting to upgrade your monitor to OLED, expect to see even more options during CES. Asus, Samsung and MSI have all announced The first 27-inch 4K OLED 240Hz monitormsi has one 500Hz 1440p OLED monitorAnd ASRock has it too 520Hz IPS monitor For those who still want to play at 1080p. With new GPUs on the horizon, it's a great time to pair them with next-generation OLED technology.
Finally, if you're interested in PC gaming but don't want to spend big on a dedicated rig or gaming laptop, handhelds may be even more attractive. Looks like Lenovo is about to launch it Own SteamOS HandheldAnd it has invited both Valve and Microsoft to a special event gaming handheld event At CES. Microsoft's “vice president of the next generation” will be in attendance, as it looks like Windows will have to fight SteamOS for PC gaming on handhelds.
smart fone
CES is no longer a phone show, but I'll be on the lookout for non-phones – I think they're going to be hot this year. Not-Phone lets you do things you'd normally tap on your phone screen to do – only, well, not on your phone. Glasses with cameras, gadgets without screens, things like that. It seems like we're finding out that maybe phones don't need to do everything under the sun. we can have Other Gadgets for when we don't need a phone, like a compact cameraA small e-ink tablet that runs all your favorite reading apps, or sports a silicone case Turns your Apple Watch into an iPodThe main thing is that they don't replace your phone wholesale; They simply complement it.
Oh, and naturally there will be lots of AI. AI refrigerator, AI roller skates, AI pants, I don't know. Personally, I'd like to see some AI gadgets that are actually useful but don't try to do too much – more meta Ray-Bans and less human AI Pins. I still think the phones are going to be undefeated As for future AI gadgets, but I also think there's room for some non-phones as well. Anyway, I hope so.
wearables
It looks like it's another year where smartwatches are taking the place of more niche wearables. I'm sure we'll see some updated smart rings, but I think smart glasses, AR headsets, and AI wearables will dominate the show floor. Nothing on the scale of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, Rabbit or Humane. Think about small, established companies in the region making a new splash and startups eager to push boundaries. Either way, smart glasses and AI wearables generated some real momentum in 2024, and that will likely be reflected at CES 2025.
On the health front, I'm expecting to see some trends continuing from the past few years. Things like OTC hearing devices, remote health monitoring, and at least a few weird concepts that will almost certainly be vaporware. After all, it's not CES without a handful of companies claiming they've cracked the code for non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. And speaking of AI, I'm definitely hoping to see more health tech companies working on chatbots like ChatGPT to complement existing devices or services.
Beauty technology and other categories tailored for women have also been growing rapidly in recent years. L'Oreal is leading this movement, and I'm curious to see how the category will perform this year after the much-talked-about 2024 show.
